Age Groups
Children at the centre are cared for in groups as follows: Nursery: birth - 18 months old: There are 8 places and 3 staff. Toddlers: approximately 18 months - 2.5 years old: there are 15 places and 4 staff. Introduction to pre-school ("Intro"): approximately 2.5 to 3.5 years old: there are 20 places and 4 staff.. Pre-school: approximately 3.5 - 5 years old: there are 20 places and 3 staff. In addition to the above staff there are a full time Director and supernumary staff covering all the staff breaks and non contact time. This means that ratios are maintained at all times. Movement of the children between the age groups, while roughly determined by age, depends primarily on the individual child's readiness to move into an older age group, and space available. Each child's readiness to progress is determined through consultation with staff members and parents in the relevant age groups. You are encouraged to discuss this process with the staff in your child's room. Please remember if there aren't vacancies in the next age group we are unable to move your child up. |
